What Is A Plunger Cylinder
The plunger cylinder is a specific structural form of the hydraulic cylinder, and the plunger cylinder can only realize a hydraulic cylinder moving in one direction. When the single plunger cylinder moves in reverse, it needs to rely on external forces. However, with the combination of two plunger cylinders, reciprocating motion can also be achieved using pressure oil.
Constituent elements:
Cylinder block: Usually made of high-strength alloy steel material, with hydraulic oil holes and sealing devices inside.
Piston: Cylindrical, sliding motion in cylinder block, with seal and guide.
Plunger rod: Located on the central axis of the piston, it runs through the entire hydraulic cylinder and acts as a link between the piston and the external device.
Sealing device: used to ensure that the oil inside and outside the hydraulic cylinder does not leak each other, the common sealing methods are U-shaped sealing ring, O-ring and so on.
Guide device: Used to keep the piston and plunger rod in the exact position in the cylinder block, reduce the movement resistance.
Working Principle
When the plunger moves in one direction, a check valve opens, and the liquid is sucked into the cylinder to form negative pressure; When the plunger moves in the other direction, the liquid is compressed, another check valve is opened, and the inhaled liquid is discharged. After continuous movement of this working mode, continuous oil supply is formed.
Peculiarity
The plunger cylinder is especially suitable for long trips. Its movement is guided by the guide sleeve on the cylinder head, so the inner wall of the cylinder does not need to be finished. In addition, the plunger cylinder is divided into radial plunger cylinder and axial plunger cylinder.
Application Situation
Plunger hydraulic cylinders are widely used in many fields, including power machinery fields (such as excavators, cranes, road rollers and other construction machinery), metallurgical equipment fields (such as rolling mills, forming presses, drawing machines, etc.), petrochemical fields (such as oil field winches, conveying pumps and other equipment) and aerospace fields (such as aircraft takeoff and landing devices and wing flap control devices).
