What Is A Lifeboat?

Lifeboat refers to a special lifeboat installed on a ship for rescuing the crew in case of shipwreck.

Lifeboats can be divided into rubber boats, wooden boats, folding boats, inflatable boats, fiberglass boats and so on. Lifeboats are characterized by large capacity, shelter from wind and rain, and communication facilities.

In the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974, the scope of inspection of lifeboats covers their equipment, storage, landing and recovery devices, as well as the whole process of life-saving exercises.
