What is a stern tube?
A stern tube is a tubular structure in a ship shaft used to support and protect the stern shaft.
The stern tube is generally welded directly on the hull structure in the form of cast steel parts, and the bearings are pressed forward and back after processing or using the flexible pouring type of finished products, and then the propeller shaft is installed in the stern shaft tube. The operation and load bearing of the propeller shaft are borne by the stern shaft tube and its bearing.
