What Is A Threaded Flange?
The threaded flange is a kind of non-welded flange. The inner hole of the flange is machined into pipe thread and connected with the pipe with thread. The flange does not need to be welded, has the characteristics of easy installation and maintenance, and can be applied to some pipelines that are not allowed to be welded on site. However, due to its large flange thickness, high cost, and not suitable for high-pressure situations, it has certain limitations.
Advantages:
- Easy installation: Because there is no need to weld, the installation of threaded flange is relatively convenient, which can avoid the trouble caused by welding and shorten the installation time.
- Strong applicability: suitable for pipe connections of various pipe diameters and materials, especially for occasions where welding is not allowed.
- Cost savings: Compared with butt welded flanges, the production cost of threaded flanges is lower, which can reduce the cost of the entire project.
- High reliability: Due to its simple connection mode, there is no welding heat affected zone, so it reduces the leakage caused by thermal deformation and other problems.
Cons:
- Limited bearing capacity: Due to its structural characteristics, the bearing capacity of the threaded flange is relatively small and cannot withstand large pressure or vibration.
- High sealing performance requirements: In order to ensure the tightness, it is necessary to use high-quality sealing materials and installation technology, otherwise it is easy to leak.
- Maintenance inconvenience: Once there is a leak and other problems, maintenance is more troublesome, may need to disassemble the entire pipeline system.
- Limited scope of application: For large pipes and thick-walled pipes, threaded flanges may not be suitable.
