What Is Mixed Flow Pump?
Mixed flow pump is a type of pump between centrifugal pump and axial flow pump, with higher head than centrifugal pump and smaller flow than axial flow pump. The impeller of the mixed flow pump rotates to produce centrifugal force and thrust together, so that the liquid produces oblique flow, that is, mixed flow.
Mixed-flow pumps are used in various ships, mainly for transporting liquid media. Specifically, the applications of mixed-flow pumps on ships mainly include:
- Fuel delivery: Mixed-flow pumps are used to deliver fuel and power ships.
- Ballast water: The mixed flow pump is used to transport ballast water and adjust the floating state and stability of the ship.
- Bilge water: Mixed-flow pumps are used to remove bilge water and keep the cabin clean and safe.
- Cooling water: Mixed-flow pumps are used to transport cooling water and provide cooling for various equipment on the ship.
In addition to the above applications, mixed-flow pumps are also used in many other areas of the ship, such as fire systems, health systems, etc.
