What Is A Diverter Valve?
Diverter valve is a special automatic valve. It directs (or diverts) the flow of liquids or gases in a ship from one source to another. Diverter valves are commonly used when two separate but equally important components must interact to obtain optimal performance.
Diverter valves are designed to handle extreme operating pressures, temperatures and corrosive environments. In the Marine industry, the flow of fluids (such as fuel oil, lubricating oil, water, etc.) from one pipe is divided into two or more pipes to meet the needs of different equipment or systems of the ship.
There is a difference between diverter valves and delivery valves. Diverter valves are used to transfer water from one water source to another. Air gap diverters, check valves and pressure balancing valves can all be counted as one of the categories of diverter valves.
